Disable credit card fees on a work order

Disable CC Fees is an option on the work order (in Services & Payments or the actions menu). When you turn it on for a job, that job does not charge the customer a credit card convenience fee—your company absorbs the fee for that inspection. You can turn it off again with Enable CC Fees for the same job.

This is separate from your company-wide setting (pass-through vs. company absorbs) in Settings → Payments. The work order option overrides that for this one job only.

When it takes effect

  • It only affects new credit card payments on that job.

  • If the customer pays by card after you've turned on Disable CC Fees, they are charged only the balance due—no convenience fee is added and none is charged to their card.

  • If the customer pays by card before you turn it on, they pay the normal amount (including the fee if your company has pass-through on). Turning Disable CC Fees on later does not change or refund that payment.

If the customer has already paid

  • Turning Disable CC Fees on or off after a payment does not change what was already charged.

  • It does not refund any fee the customer already paid.

  • It only affects any future card payments on that same job (e.g. a second payment or a new charge later).

Refunds

  • Refunds are based on what was actually charged on that payment.

  • If the customer was charged a fee, the refund can include the right portion of that fee.

  • If they were not charged a fee (because fees were disabled for that job when they paid), there is no fee to refund.

  • Refunds stay correct either way; nothing special is required from you.

Tracking and reporting

  • When someone turns Disable CC Fees (or Enable CC Fees) on a work order, that change is recorded in the activity for that job.

  • There is no built-in report today that shows how often or how many jobs had fees disabled (e.g. for monitoring tech fee discount usage). To monitor that, you’d need a separate report or export that can filter or count jobs where this option was used.
